How to set up a custom domain

Custom domain lets parents access your club at yourclub.com instead of aauclubmanager.com/yourclub. RM 20/month, billed with your package on the 1st of each month (a pro-rata charge applies if you activate mid-month) — billing only starts once your domain is confirmed live, not the moment you activate it.

Prerequisites

• You already own the domain (buy from Exabytes / Namecheap / GoDaddy / WebNIC etc. if not)
• Access to your domain registrar's DNS management

Steps

1. Sidebar → Club Settings → Custom Domain
2. Enter your domain (e.g. mysoccerclub.com) → Save. You'll see a "Pending DNS" box with the records to add: - CNAME (preferred, if your registrar supports it on the root @): Host @ → Value cms-production-da5e.up.railway.app - A record (use this if your registrar does NOT support CNAME on the root): Host @ → Value the IP shown on your page
3. Log into your registrar → DNS management → add one of the two records above (not both)
4. That's it — no "Verify" button to click. We automatically re-check your DNS once a day. Once it resolves, the box changes to "Domain active" and your first invoice for the domain add-on is generated then (not before)
5. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, though it's usually much faster

Setting it up in Exabytes

Exabytes' DNS zone editor does not support a CNAME record on the root domain (@) — if you try, it will reject it or silently fail. Use the A record instead:

1. Log into Exabytes → DNS Zones → find your domain → Edit Zone
2. Click Add Record
3. Set: - Type: A - Name: @ - RDATA / Value: the A record IP shown on your AAU Club Manager "Custom Domain" page (e.g. 69.46.46.51 — always copy the exact value shown on your own page, it can change) - TTL: leave default (e.g. 14400) or lower it to 3600 if you want faster propagation
4. Save. Leave your existing NS, MX, and mail/www/ftp CNAME records untouched — you're only adding the one new A record for @
5. Wait for the daily check to pick it up (or up to 48 hours for DNS to propagate globally)

Troubleshooting

• Still "Pending DNS" after 48 hours — double-check the A record's IP exactly matches what's shown on your Custom Domain page (it's specific to our server, not a generic value); make sure you didn't accidentally add it under a subdomain name instead of @.
• "Domain already registered by another club" — that domain is already claimed by a different club's account; use a different domain or contact support.
• Two domains for one club — not supported; one custom domain per club.

Remove custom domain

• Club Settings → Custom Domain → Remove. Parents fall back to the default AAU Club Manager URL, and the RM 20/month charge stops from your next invoice.

Cara set custom domain

Domain sendiri (contoh: mysoccerclub.com) supaya parents boleh guna yourclub.com berbanding aauclubmanager.com/yourclub. RM 20/bulan, dibilkan sekali dengan pakej pada 1hb setiap bulan (caj pro-rata jika aktifkan pertengahan bulan) — bil hanya bermula selepas domain disahkan live, bukan semasa aktifkan.

Keperluan

• Domain sendiri (beli dari Exabytes / Namecheap / GoDaddy jika belum ada)
• Akses ke DNS management di registrar anda

Langkah

1. Menu sisi → Club Settings → Custom Domain
2. Masukkan domain → Save — akan nampak kotak "Pending DNS" dengan record yang perlu ditambah: - CNAME (jika registrar sokong CNAME pada root @): Host @ → Value cms-production-da5e.up.railway.app - A record (guna ini jika registrar TIDAK sokong CNAME pada root): Host @ → Value IP yang ditunjukkan pada halaman anda
3. Login registrar → DNS management → tambah satu sahaja daripada dua record di atas
4. Tiada butang "Verify" — sistem check DNS anda secara automatik sekali sehari. Bila dah resolve, kotak akan tukar kepada "Domain active" dan invois pertama untuk domain add-on baru akan dijana pada masa itu (bukan sebelum itu)
5. Perubahan DNS boleh ambil masa sehingga 48 jam untuk propagate

Setup di Exabytes

DNS zone editor Exabytes TIDAK menyokong CNAME record pada root domain (@) — kalau cuba, ia akan reject atau gagal senyap. Guna A record sebagai gantinya:

1. Login Exabytes → DNS Zones → cari domain anda → Edit Zone
2. Klik Add Record
3. Set: - Type: A - Name: @ - RDATA / Value: IP A record yang ditunjukkan pada halaman "Custom Domain" AAU Club Manager anda (contoh: 69.46.46.51 — sentiasa salin nilai tepat dari halaman anda sendiri, ia boleh berubah) - TTL: biar default (contoh 14400) atau rendahkan ke 3600 untuk propagate lebih cepat
4. Save. Jangan ubah record NS, MX, dan CNAME mail/www/ftp sedia ada — anda hanya tambah SATU record A baru untuk @
5. Tunggu check harian pick up perubahan (atau sehingga 48 jam untuk propagate)

Troubleshoot

• Masih "Pending DNS" selepas 48 jam — pastikan IP A record sama tepat dengan yang ditunjukkan pada halaman Custom Domain anda; pastikan tidak tersilap letak di bawah subdomain berbanding @.
• "Domain already registered by another club" — domain tu dah digunakan oleh kelab lain; guna domain lain atau hubungi support.

Buang custom domain

• Club Settings → Custom Domain → Remove. Parents akan kembali guna URL AAU Club Manager default, dan caj RM20/bulan akan berhenti dari invois seterusnya.
