How to create a tournament category

Tournament categories are separate from training categories. They define the divisions used at competitions — often stricter (age cutoffs by year, weight classes, skill divisions).

Difference vs training categories

• Training category — day-to-day training group (e.g. U10 Beginners)
• Tournament category — competition division (e.g. U10 Boys — Born 2016, Under 12kg, Novice Division)

A trainee in the U10 Beginners training category might compete in U10 Boys — Born 2016 at a tournament.

Steps

1. Sidebar → Categories → Tournament Categories (/categories/tournament/my/)
2. Click Create Tournament Category
3. Fill in: - Name — e.g. U10 Boys — Born 2016 - Sport / discipline - Age rules — birth year cutoff (strict) or age at tournament date (loose) - Gender — Male / Female / Mixed - Weight class — for combat sports; min/max in kg - Skill division — Novice / Intermediate / Advanced (optional) - Federation code — the code used by external federations (for Custom exports)
4. Save

Link to tournaments

When creating a tournament: - Tournament create form → Categories field → pick from your tournament categories - One tournament can have multiple categories running simultaneously

Auto-eligibility check

When a parent registers their child, AAU Club Manager checks: - Child's DOB vs age rule - Gender match - Weight (if provided in trainee profile)

Ineligible children are blocked from registering with a clear error message.

Federation import

Some federations publish official category lists: - Tournament Categories → Import from Federation → pick FAM / MSSPP / others → AAU Club Manager imports categories with correct age rules

Saves manual setup for federation-affiliated clubs.

• Tournament: divisyen pertandingan (strict, ikut tahun lahir / berat / skill)

Langkah

1. Menu sisi → Categories → Tournament Categories
2. Create Tournament Category
3. Isi: nama, sukan, age rules, gender, weight class, skill division, federation code
4. Save

Link ke kejohanan

Kejohanan create → Categories field → pilih.

Auto-eligibility

AAU Club Manager check DOB, gender, weight → block yang tak layak.

Import federation

Import from Federation — FAM / MSSPP list dengan age rules betul.
